Yosemite National Park is a dream
destination for any serious photographer, but
what if you can't simply pick up and leave New
York at the moment? One alternative can be found
very nearby - just head on over to Kissena Park
in Queens for a nature photo workshop with a
walk around historic Kissena Lake.
I've designed this workshop for serious photo
enthusiasts. I lead the group and provide
instruction and inspiration to help you hone in
on the details in nature - the shapes, patterns
and relationships that magically appear when
photographers push themselves to see more deeply
and also to think at times in B&W. In
addition to technique and artistic
considerations, I share some of my philosophy on
taking photographs, while offering short
assignments to the group to help you fully
embrace the environment - be it majestic trees
and leaf patterns, ducks, turtles, and migrating
birds, or the human element that can be found
interacting with nature. We may catch seasonal
color changes in the fall and even some
competitive bocce ball players, before finishing
up at the historic grove, which contains some of
the world's most exotic trees, reminders of
Samuel Bowne Parsons' (1819-1906) once
flourishing and famed nursery.
This workshop is open to serious photo
enthusiasts with all levels of experience. A
digital SLR camera is recommended. A light but
sturdy tripod, though optional, will be helpful
for portions of the class.
Small class size - limited to 12 participants.
Kissena Park is easily
accessible by public transportation from Midtown
Manhattan (7 Train and Q27 Bus)
and close to most parts of Nassau County,
Long Island.
Kissena Park Nature Photo Workshop is one of a series of classes that I
lead. Sign up for my class mailing list to hear about
new dates for workshops and photo outings.
